Ravindra Patnayaka completed his Bachelors of Architecture in 2005 from School of Planning and Architecture J.N.T.U, Hyderabad & Master of Technology (Planning) with specialization in urban and regional planning  in 2010 from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad. He has 13 years of teaching experience. He previoulsy worked as an Assistant Professor in S.A.R.College of Architecture, Agiripally, Vijayawada, for 2 years 9 Months and served in various roles and responsibilities. He joined GITAM School of Architecture as an assistant professor in September 2013 and got promoted as an associate professor undertaking various academic and administrative responsibilities.
