In this webinar, K. Mohan focused on green building techniques that included biomimicry (how nature can be imitated in design) and how biomimicry can help architects create a more efficient, sustainable, and beautiful by learning from nature’s wisdom.
In his presentation, he spoke about using nature in design- how the different parts of trees can be taken as an inspiration to create buildings.
His presentation was full of examples that gave students an idea of green buildings and how to create them.
Some examples he talked about are- ST. Mary Annexe (Gherkin), how the Gherkin was inspired by the Venus flower basket sponge, which has a lattice-like exoskeleton and a round shape that helps it to survive at great heights.
