Bamboo building technology as it exists is based on traditional craft/assembly and experience gained over years. With worldwide interest, bamboo is gaining in recent times as eco-friendly material, there have been serious attempts to develop bamboo building technology based on recognized engineering principles. Referring to India, a lot of studies have been carried on preservation of bamboo with a view to enhance service life followed by determination of physical/mechanical properties of several species in a systematic manner with a view to assist engineers to select and make design decisions.
