FDP - Reinstating the Human in Architecture Education

GITAM School of Architecture kickstarts its Curriculum Enrichment exercise with a Faculty Development Program “Reinstating the ‘Human’ in Architecture Education” with a series of online and offline talks and faculty working sessions from 8th – 10th August, 2024.

The aim of the workshop is to comprehensively rethink the undergraduate Architecture curriculum and integrate Humanities as one of the discipline’s core pedagogical foundations. Through the three days we will discuss the ecosystem in which contemporary Architecture operates and is mediated by: no longer a building-centric discipline that communicates only in real time and space, but one in which Multimedia, Artificial Intelligence, the Anthropocene, and other ways of seeing have layered the perspectives and debates of the role of Architecture and who the twenty first century ‘human’ is. Values that emerge from these new approaches will be brainstormed through the lens of GITAM’s vision and mission statements to outline new pedagogical possibilities for Architecture.
