Second year BArch students visited the ancient “Thotlakonda Buddhist Monastery” as part of their History of Architecture curriculum. The site has stupas, viharas (monks’ residences), chaityagrihas (prayer halls), and intricately designed stone cisterns, highlighting advanced water management techniques. At the center stands the Mahastupa, symbolizing the Buddha's teachings, surrounded by smaller stupas and votive platforms, reflecting the architectural and spiritual depth of the Buddhist community. The site also includes a kitchen and dining hall, designed to meet the communal needs of the monks.
