GITAM School of Architecture hosts architectural historian Dr Peter Scriver, founding member of the Centre for Asian and Middle-Eastern Architecture (CAMEA) at the University of Adelaide, Australia where he teaches modern history, theory and design, and directs postgraduate research students. Dr Scriver’s pioneering research in the twentieth century building histories of the Indian subcontinent forged new strands of continuities and discontinuities between the colonial and postcolonial histories of the region. His theoretical interests focus on cultural and cognitive relationships between architecture, building, planning and urban design, and the institutional frameworks and professional networks in which these disciplines operate. Dr Scriver will engage with GSA students and faculty over three days beginning with an illustrated lecture on his research journey of over twenty years, engagement with thesis students on the criticality of architectural technology, and a research writing workshop for the faculty.
