Closer Apart

GSoA recently concluded an interactive session with Architect and Urbanist Madhav Raman. Students and faculty were engaged by Raman’s insight into the practice of architecture including some projects from his two decades of journey as a designer, thinker, academic and mentor. The narrative focussing on how a designer plays a crucial role in the ecosystem, illustrated through his projects, and reflected through his personal insights, philosophy, anecdotes and recommendations enlightened the participants. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session where the speaker discussed his approach to some of the challenges of architecture and provided some perceptive pointers for the future of architectural practice in India including designing for diversity, reversibility of construction, alternate materials and digital methodology for construction. It was successfully completed with students and faculty leaving the seminar hall enriched and curious for further exploration.'
